Jason's comment about "ignoring the elephant in the room" is a good one. Rather than make some kind of peasley effort to say more about the war, when there is much too much to be said altogether, I will come up with something else to talk about. But bear in mind that the elephant seems to be expanding, blowing up, and generally creeping out space for other things. For someone not particularly prone to writer's bloc, I've got a bad case.

The C-diddly has recommended that instead of blathering on about how much this whole war sucks, I should "write about what i should do this weekend and then i will read it and decide". Well, then. As it stands, her top choice seems to be "taking off tomorrow afternoon and friday and going to verona tomorrow and staying there friday and then going to venice either late friday or early saturday until sunday afternoon." Appealing, I agree.

We were considering an epic to Azerbaijan, to Baku to see Amy, for the weekend, but the elephant got in the way. I vetoed early; C, left a bit bored, I think, by my recent complete attachment to Steve and by the incessant nature of the week-in, week-out ski weekends in which she does not partake, was more keen and feeling braver. But much to the delight of my peace of mind, she has decided on a negatory.

So now she is stuck deciding how much of her 5.5 weeks of vacation is left and what she should do with it. Venice and Verona, strong options. Venice particularly, though I have never been to Verona, sounds perfection to me. Any later and I feel the crowds might be vaguely out of hand. On the other hand, her parental unit is probably coming over the summer and envisioning an adventure to Italy; probably, this would include either Venice or Florence, so this would be a weekend to go somewhere they were less keen on so as to get all the locales in before tourist season picks up.

Other options, easily accessible...Nice does not sound too shabmatab, nor does somewhere like Prague should flights become available. Swiss has their supersavers coming online at noon, and so it is my opinion decisions should be delayed until after those have been investigated. A return to Barcelona before the temperatures get out of control might be in line.

The brilliant thing about living in the center of Europe is that there are options on all sides, just waiting to be investigated.

Ack. Cecilia is waiting. Must hop to work. Now playing. Hilmar ?rn Hilmarsson & Sigur R?s, "Angels of the Universe". Oh so pretty, lovely lovely songs. Steve bought it yesterday when we were looking for birthday presents for Brodie. Tis pretty much brilliance.
