WASHINGTON - After weeks of anticipation, toy collectors and Republican enthusiasts were were disappointed when the new George W. Bush action figure failed to appear for its release date.
The figure, which features Bush as he was dressed in his now-famous appearance aboard the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln was set to arrive in stores this week. But as of yesterday, the figures had yet to appear.
"He just...didn't show," said Reginald Steele, a manager for Child World Toys in Circle Pines, MN.
The figures' manufacturer had no explanation for the missing figure. However, a company spokesman said customers who had pre-ordered the figure would receive an action figure of former vice-president Al Gore, dressed in the military uniform he wore while serving in Vietnam.
