I have got excuses, but I have no doubt that you won't really be all that interested in hearing them.
Instead, here I start afresh, with a quick snapshot of my current life and times, with (hopefully) somewhat more regular bits and pieces to come this way regarding my adventures.
I have left my clean fair city of Geneva and find myself in the very unclean but reasonably fair, sprawling city of Bangkok, which happens to be a pretty happening, hip, happy kind of place, and as I have just started working after a three month hiatus, it means the following: it feels like home.
I'm sitting here in my fourteenth floor office, which is my home away from home from last week til mid-October, where I have to arrive at 7:30 in the morning, the office hours a set of slaves to the beast that is Bangkok traffic, which I avoid as I arrive and leave (at 3:45, unless I am writing a blog update) via river boat and tuk tuk, and I sit here in my office researching reproductive health indicators and pondering how the lovely countries of East and Southeast Asia are going to get away with measuring contraceptive prevalence in commercial sex workers when some of them don't even know the maternal mortality rate.
Bangkok is a mammoth, and for the last three months, my beloved Steve has been gurgling his way through his dissertation while I putter, write, swim, and READ, probably more than is reasonable for anyone to be doing.
I am going to try and make more snapshots, but I thought I would re-establish my claim, as though I were a kind of newcomer.
