Yes, it's true: I've pulled double-duty today. So I thought it would be fun to make up a little list of fun topics and titles to write to today. Why, I'll even make a game of it. Whoever wries the best poem with one of these titles will win a book from my vast personal library. Just send your submissions to poetry@pulplit.com. Let's say the deadline is January 30th. And yes, this is totally for real.
Here is the list of titles of poems I'd like to see written:
'I like to read'
'My year in Spanish Harlem'
'Warehouse Blues'
'Bleacher Bums on Pennsylvania Ave.'
'Classified Ads'
'How to Spend $40 million'
'Ode to Channel 36 at 10:58'
'Snow hitting Pines in the Sun'
'Me and my samsonite'
'The boy with the toothy grin'
'A dog and her pillow'
'On Shoveling her neighbor's drive this late in the day'
Again, please send submissions to poetry@pulplit.com, with the subject line 'Books for Poems'. Deadline is January 30th.
