I am delighted to announce that Michael Cecconi of California is a winner of the Poems for Books Exchange Programme! A few weeks ago I asked that people send me poems written using one of a choice of pre-determined titles. In exchange for their poem, I would send them a book from my vast personal library, as well as post their poem in my blog.

So without further ado, here is Mike's poem 'Classified Ads'...

"classified ads"

i looked through the paper
hard work for a monday
but there weren't many jobs
and the few didn't pay

carrying pillows for lazy brown dogs
and lugging at luggage for fox
packing up teevee guides in a warehouse
and packaging whores for a descrambler box
shoveling snow fallen on cedars-sinai and
pining for more than just breaking rocks

...and then i remembered
these are classified ads
the good stuff's encrypted
and this is the bad

what can i do
i wondered aloud
but wait for a clearance
for my head in the clouds

___

Mike will receive a book from me in a few weeks. I encourage more poems to be sent, and this time here are the titles I'll be looking for:

1. Cellophane Sideways
2. It Happened One Afternoon
3. On Why I Can't Make Up My Mind
4. The Numbered List
5. Changed Rooms

Good Luck!
