So, for anyone out there who went to high school with me, I would just like to point out that some of the activities we used to invent on a routine basis, which were at the time called "childish" (or, by a certain critic "retarded") are now commonly reffered to as performance art
I stand by our youthful brilliance, I have the photos to back it up (Water polo with Kurt the manequin head in the fountain at the Mtl. Jazz Festival, anyone?), and would just like to say *PLBLLLLT* to all the people who thought we were on drugs (we weren't) or "a retard, or something" (also can't be proven).
I would also like to say that I continue to have these ideas, that my ideas are funnier than subway dancing (which is like, so 2003) and it's a shame that as an adult I don't have time to implement them. (Look at me, I can barely keep up with this blog.) But I am grateful for all the time I had when I was fifteen to play Zadig Ball in the park (think Calvin Ball, with fewer rules), make tennis ball people and tiny pipecleaner rabbits for student election campaigns, and hand out small, finely crafted cloth bags of earth from the garden for Earth Day.
It's a shame we never did set up that picnic on the roof of the west wing, though. That would have been cool.
