I know that I'm in the majority on this, but I want to add my voice to the chorus. I think United 93 the movie is a bad idea. I do not like even seeing the previews. I do not plan on seeing the movie, and I would be very surprised if I changed my mind about that.

Why? Because it was September 11th was traumatic, and I do not feel like reliving it through the miracle of fiction. Our national tragedy is not something which should be consumed as entertainment.

But do you think it should never be made into a film or novel or play? As in, not fifty years from now, or 100 years from now? Other than on principle due to its quality, do you think “Pearl Harbor” should not have been made?

Is it simply films you’re talking about? I believe there have already been some interesting literary works that address 9/11, such as Art Spiegelman’s “In the Shadow of No Towers,” and a number of novels. Should these be set aside forever, or until some vague amount of time has passed? Should Spielberg never have made “Schinder’s List”? His reason for doing so, I believe, was to help ensure that future generations never forgot the Holocaust.
