Once again, Boing Boing (do I read anything else on the internet anymore?) provokes a response. They are opposing the raiding of marijuana dispensaries in California by the Federal Government. The quote that gets me going is "another example of how states rights only matter to politicians when it furthers their ideological agendas."
It seems as if an assertion that states rights should trump federal laws doesn't have to be lambasted, but just to be clear, that position would condone states prohibiting abortions, opposing desegregation, and (wait for it) legalizing slavery.
To say that the issue of legalizing drugs is about states rights versus federal jurisdiction is absurd.
To say that the legalization of drugs should be left up to states, well, then you have an argument.
